Turning Up the H.E.A.T. for Academic Credit

Turn up the H.E.A.T. on your continuing education with a graduate-level course from LoTi. Courses offered for academic credit provide participants with an in-depth exploration of the foundational theories and methodologies surrounding classroom pedagogy and current research followed by practical application into the participant’s work environment (e.g., classroom, school building). Turning up the H.E.A.T. online is 45 hours and qualifies for graduate credit through the University of Delaware.

The Turning Up the H.E.A.T. online course enables participants to apply H.E.A.T. (i.e, Higher-order thinking, Engaged learning, Authenticity, Technology use) and other instructional best practices to their classrooms using a collaborative learning environment. For each theme identified, participants will engage in activities designed to help them get focused, clarify understanding, explore pertinent resources/strategies, and connect to students. The culminating activity for this course involves creating a lesson plan unit with H.E.A.T. and performing classroom walkthroughs with H.E.A.T. Themes in the course include:

  • High Level Thinking Processes
  • Engaging Students
  • Authentic Connections
  • Technology Tools
  • Applying H.E.A.T.

This course is asynchronous; it does not require all participants to be logged into the course at the same time. The intent of the LoTi online learning is to provide convenient, cost-efficient, high-quality professional development services for participants on their own time schedule. This course is available for academic credit through the University of Delaware.
